When To Worship?
We typically think of worship as a worship service and/or the activities of singing, praying, praising and taking communion. These are the usual forms of worship, but spiritual worship is so much more than these activities. So we must move beyond the customary forms of worship. While worship is something we do, it could and should be so much more.
Worship is all about the Person to whom is worthy of our honor and praise. The act of worship is giving God worth and honor. It is to see God, sense God, experience God and give attention to God in whatever manner is most appropriate and/or natural at any given moment. We can worship everyday in many ways, like when we stand in awe and amazement of a beautiful Tucson sunset.
Worship is the understanding of who God is and what He has done. Giving thanks for what He has done in us and through us. There is no end to the number of ways we can direct our worship towards God.
Worship can include praise, thanksgiving, gratitude, appreciation, adoration, awe, confession and even service. Sometimes we pray or sing these things with others. Other times they occur in silence and sometimes we do this when we are all alone.
In the end, worship is our spirit connecting with the Spirit of God. We will know we have worshiped when we have made an authentic connection with God.
