God and the Human FamilyIt is our persuasion that humanity initiated nothing. We love because God first loved us (1 John 4:19). It was God who chose to create. It was God who chose to reveal Himself, and in these later days through His Son (Hebrews 1:2). It was God who chose to pursue us as a shepherd pursues his sheep or a groom his bride. And this, not because of any good thing that we had done, but because of His great mercy. At the coming of Jesus we're inclined to rehearse the words of the song:
A thrill of hope; the weary world rejoices For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn We are convinced that God, through (in and as) Jesus Christ came calling a fallen humanity back to Himself. Able to restore us He offered us mercy by the sacrificial life of His Son. We understand, according to His Holy Scripture, those responding to His call must come to Him in faithful obedience. Mimicking His death, burial and resurrection we submit to being immersed in water in an appeal for a good conscience and the forgiveness of our sins. Then, being raised to a new, God-honoring life, live our lives patterned after Jesus Himself. We await the harvest of our hope; resurrection from the dead. He is the center of our worship as He is the centre of our lives. We take our direction from Him and we direct our lives toward Him. We believe the Bible to be inspired and therefore it is our effort to follow its teachings. We have no allegiance to any religious body except that of Christ's. Heb 4:14-16Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathise with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are-- yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. (NIV)
Jesus said, "The Son of Man came, not to be served, but to serve...". We believe the Christian message involves Christians answering the call to service. Consequently, using our time, energy, gifts and finance, we are here to serve the local comunnity in whatever ways we can. |
